CONGIV wins the race in the WLAN Refresh project at Messe München
With over 50 trade fairs of its own, Messe München GmbH is one of the world’s leading trade fair companies. With an area of 200,000 sqm in 18 halls and an outdoor area of 414,000 sqm, the Munich trade fair centre hosts up to 30 trade fairs, approx. 280 national guest events and around 120 congresses and conferences every year.
For a future-proof WLAN infrastructure, Messe München relies on CONGIV as a strong integrator, from planning to cabling, installation, configuration, commissioning and subsequent maintenance. Messe München currently operates more than 500 fixed WLAN access points at its exhibition centre in Munich Riem, which cover both the employees’ own needs and provide WLAN connectivity for trade fair visitors.
CONGIV was able to win the award procedure, which was accompanied by several proofs of concepts as a confidence-building measure in addition to the tender procedure. As a result of the tender, CONGIV was commissioned with the implementation of the complete project during ongoing trade fair operations.
In addition to the attractive price/performance ratio, a technologically leading product portfolio and the innovative, future-proof concept, the decisive factor in Messe München’s decision was above all CONGIV’s flexibility to adapt to the dynamic conditions of trade fair operations.
The major project is expected to be completed by the end of 2023.
Initial situation
Prior to the start of the project, Messe München operated fixed WLAN access points installed by another supplier at its exhibition centre in Munich Riem, which covered both the employees’ own WLAN needs and provided corresponding WLAN connectivity for trade fair visitors. This technology was no longer state-of-the-art and could therefore no longer meet the growing demands placed on it.
The focus of the WLAN renewal is in the area of the exhibition halls, as well as the replacement of the WLAN access points in the area of the main entrances, office buildings, meeting rooms and open-air grounds.
